An elegant Louis XV‑style mirror from 18th‑century France, finely carved in giltwood with a pierced scrolling frame and a crest centered on a basket‑of‑flowers motif flanked by C‑scrolls and acanthus flourishes. The composition exemplifies Rococo grace; light, asymmetrical, and richly ornamental, while maintaining a balanced architectural outline.
The mirror retains its original wooden backboards and antique mirror plate, both consistent with its period craftsmanship. The gilding shows natural wear and rubbing through to the underlying gesso and wood, creating a warm, authentic patina that speaks to its age. Structurally solid and ready for display, though it could be re‑gilded or lightly restored if a brighter finish is desired.
